Maia Naveriani: Solo Show
Image : Maia Naveriani, Back to Monkeys 2, 2021, Colour Pencil and Acrylic Paint on Paper, 150x110 cm.
The solo exhibition of Maia Naveriani at Kvareli Foundation presents works from different periods of the artist’s practice, bringing earlier works into dialogue with recent pieces and neon-based works.
Maia Naveriani’s practice has developed across drawing, text, and installation, shaped by a visual language that brings together personal experience, cultural memory, feminist inquiry, and references drawn from pop culture, mythology, literature, and everyday language. Primarily associated with works on paper, she has used drawing as a space of directness and critical play, often addressing the female subject within social and symbolic structures.
The exhibition traces the evolution of this practice from earlier works to more recent forms, including neon works in which language becomes image, object, and address. In these pieces, text occupies physical and spatial presence, extending her interest in signs, phrases, and cultural codes beyond the surface of paper.
Presented together, the exhibition offers a concentrated view of Maia Naveriani’s artistic trajectory, revealing a practice that moves between intimacy and public statement, personal mythology and shared cultural language.
